title : TOA Semester 2

Year 1 Semester 2
alright the 2nd semester is when we choose our majoring course, there's Interior Design (ID), Illustration (IL), Digital Animation (DG), Advertising & Graphic Design (AD) and Multimedia Design (MM). And I majored at AD as mentioned earlier, was struggling between IL and AD :( but in the end I chose AD. This semester includes more drama and "adventure" compared to the 1st semester. The 1st semester was more peaceful and quiet. In this class there's only 16 of us, starting of this semester I didn't really get along with my mates that well, I was just being in my comfort zone and I barely hang out with them after class I would straight away head home. Even lecturers said we're too quiet O.O seriously lack of bonding. But sooner or later the relationship between us classmates was slooowly improving. I start watching movies with them and have lunch and stuff. But even though we get together, on a personal level there's still a gap. Like we're just classmates and not "BFF" material. But since we're gonna be in the same class for another 2 more years, I hope things go smoothly :) There's been some drama going on... sometimes, but overall they're alright. Just one thing I hope WILL change, is the attitude of some of my mates, they're too passive at times where it's not really beneficial or mentally healthy, and am certainly not encouraging it because we're all learning about advertising. Most important thing about this course is not just designing a product or a banner, it's how you can use your words to convince your clients and consumers to buy your concept and idea. So being extremely quiet really doesn't help in anyway. I should know because I used to be that passive girl back in primary school, I was so quiet that one of my classmates thought I was a mute. Teachers would get furious at me cause when they want me to read or explain something I can only hear my heart beating louder and louder and I will never open my mouth (sounds really exaggerating right?) but the point is I totally know how glossophobia feels like, you're afraid that people will judge you or tease you when you say something, afraid of humiliation, embarrassments or eye contact. Somehow you feel safe when you don't speak, and another reason is of course you're weak in English, so you prefer not to talk even when the lecturer is so mad they wanna eat you alive you just remain silent anyways. Well it's not easy to overcome this bad habit/fear but it's possible if you're putting in effort to change.
Anyways, the things we learn during this semester is Figure Studies again (but this time more concentrated on portraits), Drawing 2 (Still Life paintings), Visual and Communication instead of Design Fundamentals and Language class. Even though compared the the 1st semester the sujbects are less, but the pressure and date lines are monsters!!!! D8 lol. We have really interesting assignments like Name card designs, Flipbook Animation, Anamorphic Kolam Design, Silkscreen etc
this right there is the Name card design. we have to carve whatever design we want on erasers and using it as if they're chops. I love this assignment the most. It's really fun when you get the hang of it :D try it !
