title : Advertising.. a long way to go.
During 13 February 2012, Monday. Me and my course mates attended a talk by Mr. Huang Ean Hwa, an inspiring man in the advertising industry. Honestly I was sleepy and exhausted before Mr. Huang started talking, because I slept really late if I recalled correctly. So, firstly he introduced himself and said that he'd love to share anything he could about his life's journey and also his 20 years of experience in advertising. But unfortunately this talk only lasts about 2-3 hours (as he is a very busy man), so it's impossible for him to give us every detail. He told us briefly about his childhood/ working experience, showed some of his work that were mostly commercials, he also told us jokes and also showed us some meaningful things on screen. While I was listening to him part of me felt ashamed and unworthy, for he wasn't born rich nor was he any different from any of us sitting in the hall. And yet there are those who were born wealthy and healthy but nags bout assignments being too much of a burden. And me, I felt ashamed because I spend too much time on social networks, watching cartoons etc when its the best time to do more research on things I'd like to know more or things I didn't know that could be a benefit to my future. I keep telling myself I have to do my best and not let anyone down especially myself, but truthfully I know I only did maybe like 40% of what I was suppose to do. I'm glad that we get to meet Mr. Huang that day, his words changed some of my perspective of how things work. We shouldn't just see things in front of us, but learn to see things way beyond our expectations and imagination. What I loved most was him being real... towards us, towards his works and towards himself. He had also worked with one of Malaysia's most inspiring woman, Yasmin Ahmad :) advertising is not an easy path, we might need to sacrifice a little or probably a lot... before we can be where we want to be.
I shall post some of the works that I really like.

Proton commercial during Merdeka - He said the story was based on how he used to behaved when he was a kid. Write something based on your own experience to touch people's heart :)

Proton commercial 1 Malaysia, starring local artists: Ho Yuhang, Afdlin Shauki and David Arumugam. Comedy madness yop.
This was being banned by the government when it was just out for 1 or 2 months, and god knows why they even wanna ban such an awesome work :(

Proton commercial for Hari Raya, another funny commercial XD

Some slides he shared with us,

For his words of encouragement, I will fight for my goals and do what I've always wanted to do, Save our world. I hope in the future I will be able to not just be successful.. but have opportunities to help raise awareness for companies like WWF or Peta etc.
